August was vacation time!
I had some time off in August and we took advantage of it mostly in San Clemente.
Before we took off, we had a vacancy in one of Pat's rentals
that we needed to get ready for rent and get a tenant set up.
I am always in awe going into this rental space.
It is pretty awesome for a rental!
As you enter here
you are coming in off the street and never would expect to go
down to basement level and
find this!
Yes! A view that is in the basement level!
Down a few steps under here, is a great space for sitting with your
bbq set up to enjoy the city views!
Then back to the deck walkway to your entrance
Now you are up a bit higher with unobstructed views from
the Hollywood sign to downtown!
And the breeze is delightful!
Even in summer, as the sun goes lower, I felt I needed
a light sweater! So wonderful!
A pretty spacious deck and dining area here
and your front entrance into the living room.
Those pine trees make you feel like you are no longer
in the city, but the forest!
The dining room opens up to the kitchen on the other side
of the fireplace.
That is where we needed to update a few things.
The previous tenants were so enthralled with the views
that they never even saw the interior before moving in! They were in NY.
They left the place in great shape, so all we wanted to do was
add a few essentials we didn't get to in the last extensive
remodel. Namely, a dishwasher and fridge that fit!
It was quite a challenge. Taylor engineered an 18" dishwasher
into a 15" cabinet in the corner there.
We could only put it there because the cabinets were only 22" deep!
It fits perfectly once the cabinet spacers were removed, but it was
quite the challenge making it look like it appeared to have been made
for the space.
The fridge also was a challenge to find an affordable option that looked
built in. But, as you can see, mission accomplished!
I drool over this pantry! Taylor also added lights in here.
There is also laundry, and 2 bedrooms that he also installed
closet lights in.
All we had to do, was clean up and get the property management team to list it.
And then off we went to San Clemente to await a call that we had applications!
I got to admit, when we first got down to San Clemente, we did a lot of this!
We were tired and it was pretty hot when we arrived!
But, we got our energy back in the summer breezes and
found our way.
The next morning, we decided to explore the path for hikers along
the train tracks heading south
. We took a few side trips that looked interesting
along the way.
We kind of got into the rhythm every morning of exploring a new path.
One morning took us around the neighborhood, then up north,
and then up on the bluffs. . .
We spent more than a couple mornings on the pier watching the surfers
Not even gonna forget the evening sunsets!
One evening we even caught a sunset concert on the beach!
But, we had a few projects to get to, as we always try to leave the place
just a little better than the last time we were here!
The guys are working on improvements in the back
And I was refinishing a few pieces for inside
We even had a weekend back in LA mid vaca, to catch Shakespeare in
the Park with Marty, Eileen, Tim and Liza!
They didn't want us taking pictures during the production but
it was really fantastic, great acting, costumes, and plenty of humor
in Midsummer's Night's Dream! You just plant your blanket, spread
out your picnic and wait for the show! All for free!
And oh, and we came home to a new tenant!
Hope you are enjoying the rest of your Summer!

ReplyDeleteYou have a new tenant?? In the unit in front of your vacation spot? Love Pat's rental too! I didn't realize there were so many walking trails around - so fun!
ReplyDeleteThe new tenants are in Pat's rental. Same tenants in front of San Clemente.
ReplyDeleteWhy am I just seeing this! Always beautiful in San Clemente and I love all the hikes! Pat's place is great..did you up the rental rate for those views and custom builtins? Your work on the San Clemente house is so nice!!!
